LTC Allen West Talks SBRs with Defender Outdoors

Former Congressman and current NRA Board Member Col. Allen West has never been one to back down when he learns of a new way the government is failing the citizens. A couple months ago, we invited LTC West to the One Year Anniversary of the Defender Outdoors Shooting Center in Fort Worth, TX. He gave a speech on the State of the Second Amendment, and many other guests got a chance to shoot along side West and the other speakers. After sampling some of the great firearms available to rent, LTC West found an AR pistol he particularly enjoyed. After performing the NICS background check and the rest of the transfer paperwork, he asked if we could install a vertical foregrip on the pistol. There was a bit of strained silence as Defender Outdoors employees explained that they legally couldn’t do that, as it would reclassify the firearm. Under the NFA, the employees—and LTC West—would be unable to add that grip until the paperwork had been finished and the federal Tax Stamp was sent back.

Take a minute as LTC West and two Defender Outdoors Shooting Center employees discuss the intricacies of the National Firearms Act:

Does that make the ATF’s complicated rules any clearer?

If you still have questions about SBRs, AOWs, or other NFA items, The Defender Outdoors Shooting Center can help you out!

  1. Col. West would be a great man if he could use his influences with party members in congress to rescind the Gun Control Acts that require these rediculous laws that have become obsolete due to the new types of weapons as shown. I own a Thompson M1 with the rediculous legal 16″ barrel, instead of the 10 1/2″ barrel it originally was designed to have, all because of these silly laws. I will soon be filing my paperwork to install the shorter barrel, and pay my $200 penalty tax. It would be a great day to see these obsolete laws fall so that law abiding citizens are no longer forced to pay for what criminals already have, cut down gun barrels!

    • 20 in the military and the rules are only are for those that will obey them. We should get rid of. The 1934 gun control act, and all that built on top of that. Either that or require a $200 tax stamp to own a pressure cooker.

  2. Just scrap all of the ATF rules for law-abiding citizen!!! ATF needs to go after bad guys not the good guys period.

  3. Col.West is a fine example of American manhood. He is a proud American Patriot. I salute you!
He is smart enough to know that you cannot argue with fools because they will eventually drag you down to their level. Many of our political leaders are bona-fide fools and as long as we have ignorant, uninformed voters casting ballots for these candidates, some establishment Republicans but mostly Democrats, we will continue to get stupid laws. They call that insanity…doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Stop the stupid…it burns!
