Turn That Red Dot into Green Backs: EOTech Rebate

Have you purchased an EOTech optic? Then you might be able to return it for full retail price. This is big news, especially for those who might have purchased their EOTech sight second-hand, or have purchased one to find that it doesn’t work in extreme conditions. The rebate is the result of a class action settlement that covers any holographic weapon sight manufactured between January 2005 and November 2016. If you purchased your EOTech before February 15th, 2017, you are eligible for a rebate of the full MSRP on the sight.

Here’s the statement the lawfirm handling the class action lawsuit:

A proposed settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit claiming that certain Holographic Weapon Sights (“HWS”) made by the EOTech division of L-3 Communications Corporation do not perform as advertised, resulting in, among other things, inaccurate shot placement. EOTech stands by its products and denies it did anything wrong. However, EOTech has settled to avoid the cost and distraction of litigation.

You are a Class Member if you own certain EOTech HWS manufactured between January 1, 2005 and November 1, 2016 and purchased for personal use before February 15, 2017 or if you previously received a refund from EOTech for a Holographic Weapon Sight. The date of manufacture can be found on the underside of the sight. A complete list of eligible sights is found in Section No. 5. Their Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (“MSRP”) is available HERE.

The settlement will provide a cash payment and/or vouchers. The amount of the payment or voucher will vary; see FAQ 9 for amounts. To be eligible for a benefit under this settlement:

  • You must be a resident of the United States who is the current owner (by purchase or gift) for personal use of an EOTech Holographic Weapons Sight with one of the model numbers listed in FAQ 5.
  • You must have purchased or otherwise acquired (for example by gift) a Holographic Weapons Sight for personal use on or before the February 15, 2017 and manufactured by EOTech between January 1, 2005, and November 1, 2016.
  • If you previously received a refund from EOTech, you will automatically receive benefits under the terms of the proposed Settlement. See FAQ 7.
  • If you have not previously received a refund from EOTech, you may choose to receive a settlement benefit.
  • Your legal rights are affected whether you act or don’t act. You are encouraged to check the this website periodically because it will be updated with additional information.

  1. I have owned an EoTech 552 since 2010. I have used it in the rain, in the snow in 30 degree weather, and it has never failed me. I have only changed the batteries once and I have only re-zeroed it once. In 2012 I added a flip to side 3x magnifier. Since I would have to return it for the refund, which would not cover the cost of buying anything better, I will keep it.

  2. Thanks for the heads up. here I thought it was just my eyes. The site was quite a bit too grainy. Guess I should’ve just stuck with what I was use to, a AimPoint Comp4.

  3. Did my return last year. With the refund I bought a replacement sight at a much lower cost by getting the Vortex SPARC II. And with all the left over money I also bought a nice new S&W Bodyguard .380 pocket pistol w/ Crimson Trace Laser. Even after all that I got a lawsuit notice in the mail saying I will also get a $22.50 voucher towards the purchase of another EOTech product.

  4. Got my EOTECH second hand, after several yrs had a fade in the left side of the 65 moa circle. Contacted EOTECH and told them I purchased 2nd hand and wanted to have it repaired and let me know the cost. They had me ship it to them and they repaired at no cost to me even though I purchased used. GREAT SERVICE!! No reason to return for a unjustified refund as I suspect if I have future trouble EOTECH will address it in the same professional manner!!

  5. Received an Eotech XPS2 as a present 5 years ago. Have lost confidence in it and have submitted a claim for a refund.

I own 3 different models of EOTech HWS on three different rifles and I love them all, I have an EOTech magnifier in front of one of them,the only time I have ever had any problems was once the model 512 was not bright enough even with brand new batteries,it was about 6 years old, I sent it back to them and they very quickly and graciously repaired it,now it works perfectly again,no problem, they are a great company to deal with and i would continue to use their reliable equipment on any of my gear.
